CIT (Counselor-In-Training)

This two-week program is specially designed for rising high school seniors. The first week of the program focuses on Christian leadership development and skill-building. CITs will assist cabin counselors during the second week of the program. For off-site activities related to the CIT program, transportation will be provided for by camp personnel.

Application Process

CITs must be selected to participate in this program and a separate application and interview is required. Applicants must submit a completed CIT application. Space is limited! After you’ve completed your application and your reference has sent in their reference form, we will contact you for an interview. An Online Camper Registration Packet and payment should be submitted after the applicant has been accepted into the program.

Service Work Week

Service Work Week is a powerful week where teens going into eighth grade and older can explore what it means to live in an interdependent world. The teens build community within their team, perform service projects with local East Texas Agencies serving the poor in our area, and participate in a service project at camp. In years past at camp, they have created prayer gardens or taken over work for our support staff (dishes, water balloons, serving meals to camp).  The teens will also spend time in a children's hospital or nursing home visiting with patients and loving those who are often forgotten. In addition to this, we have a homeless day where teens are stretched out of comfort, learning humility and to ask for help when needed. Their role in the world is discussed and lived out in their powerful one week experience that creates memories that lead to action well beyond camp.  Community service hours can be achieved through this week - check with your school or church for more details.
