JOHN EGAN

Camp Director

John Egan received his BA in English from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania and his MA in Pastoral Ministry from Caldwell College in Caldwell, New Jersey.  He and His family, wife Ronna, son Brendan (5) and daughters Molly (3) and Kiera (10 months) moved to Big Sandy, Texas from Winston Salem, North Carolina in December and John began as The Pines Camp Director in January. The Egan Family is fitting into the The Pines Family quite well and their presence is truly a blessing.  John loved working with youth, mostly because he still believes that he is 15!  John says that his favorite part of working at The Pines Catholic Camp is "leading young people to a deeper relationship with God and His Church!"  He also loves tackling new projects and working outdoors and wants everyone to know that he proud that he knows that bears can climb faster than they can run!

MAGGIE (PORTER) MOORE

Assistant Camp Director

Maggie, a Recreation Management major from University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse has been working hard at The Pines since November 2005.  Having lived all over including Washington, California, Arizona and Wisconsin, she easily adjusted to life in Texas.  She actually met her now husband Leni here in East Texas.  Having worked in the Catholic camping industry previous to her experiences at The Pines, Maggie has been an incredible asset to The Pines Catholic Camp and we are so grateful for the wonderful job she has done.   Her favorite part of working at The Pines is "that we have to opportunity to create faith-filled experiences for youth in an outdoor setting!"

SALWAY WOOD

Administrative Assistant

BILL TUTTLE

Property Manager

Bill Tuttle, having worked at The Pines for two and a half years, definitely knows how to make the camp staff feel like family.   Bill who worked with the Boys Scouts and 4-H groups for a number of years before coming to The Pines, is an integral part of our camp by always making sure that the needs of the camp and the staff are met.  He is not the only Tuttle working on camp property though.  His wife Carolyn and their children, Anna, Ronald, Rita, Bill, and Karen work the horse program.  Bill says his favorite part about The Pines is "watching the kinds enjoy and experience the outdoors and their ability to watch nature change daily."

CHARLES E. "Charlie" BROWN

Maintenance Technician

Charlie has worked with The Pines for two years.    Charlie attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio for Economics and Texas A&M Engineering Extension in Houston for A/C Technology.  He was also in the US Army from 1960-1963 in the Medical Corpsman Infantry.  Charlie is always smiling and says his favorite part of The Pines is "all the fun people get to have"

BARBARA PORTER

Camp Keeper

Barbara is currently our onsite Pines veteran!  She has been working as The Pines housekeeper for 8 years now.  While she has been an amazing part of our family and has taken such great care of our camp, we are not her only family.  She is the mother of 5 girls and 2 boys and is the grandmother of 26.  Her mother was from New York and her father was from Virginia and she says she got the best of both worlds.  Barbara's favorite part of working at The Pines is "all about the children, not you and me.  Just to see them so excited and what they go home with.  My own granddaughter said after coming home from Summer Camp at The Pines 'oh my gosh, I came home with so much, you just don't even know!" and I told her, 'yes I do' because I've seen it :)"
