How are activities chosen for the different age groups?
-Water Village campers rotate through 12 activities with their cabins. This ensures that they will be able to try a multitude of activities and will know the other campers in their groups.
-Branch and Fire Village campers have the opportunity to sign up for the activities they want to do during the week. On Sunday they sign up for Monday and Tuesday activities and then Tuesday night they sign up for Wednesday and Thursday activities.
List of Activities:
Archery: Campers will learn how to knock an arrow and shoot at a target while improving their skills through creative games. This skill is headed by a certified instructor.
Canoeing: Campers will learn about teamwork and paddling skills while enjoying paddling games. All participants will wear life jackets. This skill is headed by a certified lifeguard.
Cooking: Campers will experience creativity in the kitchen and over a campfire in this skill area.
Crafts: Campers will get crafty with a variety of arts and crafts projects.
Dance: Campers will learn different styles of dance and may choose to perform a dance or routine for all camp at the end of the week.
Drawing/Painting: Campers will express their creativity using a variety of media including: pencils, pastels, watercolors, oil paints, tempera, etc.
Field Sports: A variety of team sports and field games will promote fun, sportsmanship and teamwork.
Fishing: Campers will fish for catfish and perch out of Lake Lou Ann. Fishing poles provided.
High Ropes/Climbing: Campers will focus on individual challenge utilizing high ropes elements and the climbing wall. Headed by a certified instructor. Close-toed athletic shoes required. This is a "challenge" by choice experience where participants grow in confidence and ability.
Horses: Campers will blaze trails on horses. Headed by a certified instructor. Jeans or pants and close-toed shoes are required. (Bring boots if you have some.)
Nature/Hiking: Campers will discover the natural world through games, science and exploration.
Outdoor Living Skills: Campers will learn how to build a fire, construct a shelter and survive in the wilderness.
Riflery: Campers will learn gun safety and shoot at targets using BB guns. Fire Village campers will use 22s. Headed by a certified instructor.
Swimming: Swimmers will enjoy group games and challenges in the campsite pool or Lake Lou Ann. Supervised by a certified lifeguard.
Theater/Drama: Campers will learn theatre skills through dramatic games, improv and may choose to perform a skit or drama for all camp.
